The Village, Canadore College

The new Wellness Centre at Canadore College, The Village, is a ‘living lab’ where students, families, professionals and community members come together to teach and learn from each other in a multi-generational setting.

Multipurpose collaborative classrooms and labs, and student-led, professionally supervised clinics were created for the School of Health, Human Care and Wellness. Services provided to the community include a dental clinic, a mobility/rehabilitation clinic, cognitive stimulation lab, and an early childhood education lab.

The Village was designed with Indigenous communities to integrate traditional Indigenous knowledge and practices in multifunctional, culturally appropriate spaces, for services and supports that promote inclusiveness, understanding and a spirit of coming together.
